Before installing, I layed out the components on a table, did the set up per the instruction manual and tested each item by simulating alarm. Instruction manual need to be revised for the battery sizes mentioned for the motion detector and the alarm unit - need to be "AAA" and not "AA".
It is good home security alarm system for the price. |

Dog died, wanted a simple system with local (door) and central alarm. This isn't the one to get.
Overall description:
5 door/window magnetic sensors. Each sensor has a switch on the side which says RF-Off-RF/ Alarm.
2 keyfobs, each with separate on/ off buttons.
1 central unit with 6 Red LEDs, a space beside each for a written description, and a switch on the side which toggles Alarm-Off-Chime.
1 Infrared unit, never tested.
The magnetic sensors trip when the main unit is too far away from a simple magnetic bar. My understanding is that the RF setting is to be quiet locally but alarm remotely (didn't work, so I don't know). The RF/ Alarm setting provides local and remote alarm. Each sensor comes prenumbered so that it corresponds to an LED on the central unit.
On the central unit, the alarm is supposed to give a visual and audible alarm when the sensor is tripped.
Pros:
Door sensors are loud and can be individually set to alarm remotely or remotely and locally.
Double-sided sticky tape is permanent. Better make sure you put it on right the first time because paint will come with it.
Cons:
Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. Who the heck knows?
Sometimes the central unit's alarm would trip but the corresponding LED did not light. Sometimes it did not trip at all.
The RF setting on none of the door sensors triggered the central unit. Only RF/ Alarm caused the central unit to both alarm and light up and this was inconsistent.
Door sensors are larger than any others I've seen.
You need 6 AA batteries. It ships with 17 batteries, why not complete the job?
Design is horrible.
-There is only 1 volume level. The "chime" is just as loud as the alarm. We were thinking the chime could act as a just a simple indication, like a doorbell, that doesn't wake the baby.
-For what it's worth, the chime is available only on the central unit, not each sensor.
-Arming/ disarming is at full volume, too. When you arm the central unit, you get a full volume alarm cycle instead of just a chirp or other less intense indication.
-You can't just set the central unit's switch to chime or alarm. You must also arm the unit with the keyfob.
-Keyfobs are only for arming and disarming the central unit. If you have the door sensors set to RF/ Alarm, the sensors will still alarm.
-Instructions are only on the packaging. The packaging wrongly stated there was an included User Manual. I found a pdf manual on [...], but it wasn't much better.

| The product is horribly designed for doors and windows. Better yet, not designed to accommodate doors and windows. Mainly used to secure FLAT openings and panels that close those openings, ie: drawers. Buy it and you will see what I'm talking about. If there is a Harbor Freight Tools in your area. You can get the same thing for half the price. Better design too. |
