Looking a bit 'far
Obviously when you start to make changes in your life the world a better place to do it's best to start in your neighborhood. This applies whether the changes are related to spiritual matters, environmental matters, family affairs or a combination of all three. Yes, it is good to give gifts to support organizations dedicated to provide response to natural disasters, clean nasty tropical diseases and stop commercial whaling, but we allStart making real change.
But when you have your own house in order with a first class recycling system, a small area of organic vegetables and you're done with toxic cleaning products, as far as possible, so what? 'S time to start giving to organizations and then consider the work done to help the world?
Well, not really. Once you have your own house in order received, it is time to think about your surrounding community. No, not globalcommunity. Everyone seems to talk about the global community and the global village, so that they forget the real and true community, the local villages. What can be done at European level to make a greener world?
Of course, if you're a leader, and feel strongly on a course some local problem is ideal for starting a campaign to clean your local river or something. Good for you if that's your thing. But some of us are not that type. Whatthe rest of us?
* Take a plastic bag (OK, or other container) with you when you go for a walk in the park. Use rubber gloves and remove waste in the streets.
* See what you can do things in the office to do some 'more sustainable. Do you have a policy (even if it is a policy of private) for recycling paper, using China mugs instead of disposable, not staples or take home all the organic waste for composting? At home organic waste (whichusually means crusts, apple cores and orange peel) is often a popular and easy step to take. Use a plastic bucket to collect dedicated to organic compost you can become known as compost Lady / Gentleman, but gained a reputation for being environmentally conscious, Probably not a bad thing work in those days.
* Help a neighbor. If you have an elderly neighbor who is a bit 'of a hand with a garden or a house cleaning, see if you can help occasionally. The use ofsustainable manner, of course! But some of these elderly neighbors know some tricks of the trade during the Second World War General / era of the Depression, you may find useful. This is a real win-win situation – the exchange of knowledge with the muscle.
* Giving a Carpool or a "walking bus" to your school or workplace as a way to get other people to help reduce fuel consumption to boot.
